
Born Pascal Lamarque on August 29, 1978, in Mauritius, Elpassii is a singer, songwriter, and performer known for his versatility across reggae, dancehall, sega, seggae, and reggaeton.
He discovered his passion for music in 1995 and began his journey as part of the group RBM (Ragga Beat Mouvement). Influenced by the ragga scene, including artists like Raggasonic and Chaka Demus & Pliers, RBM gained popularity in Mauritius with their debut album Sandra in 2000, followed by their second album RBM in 2002.
In 2003, Elpassii collaborated with renowned Mauritian singer Kiki Cerdor on the hit zouk track Coeur Brisé, which became widely successful across the island.
After years of group success, Elpassii launched his solo career, dedicating seven years to writing and developing his sound. In 2012, he released his first solo album Elpassii en Solo, showcasing a unique Mauritian reggaeton style blended with reggae and ska influences.
He later joined the group System R alongside Mr Love, Ja Wess, and Faya Doc, contributing to the successful album Pou Twa in 2013, featuring hits like One & Only, Facebook Tanto, and Touss Sali.
In 2017, Elpassii released his second solo album ROOTS, marking a musical evolution with deeper lyrics and diverse sounds. The standout track Séparation gained major attention and success.
Continuing his momentum, he released Sarm Rwayal, a tribute to women, and collaborated on innovative projects such as #KasBataz, a sega track inspired by the COVID-19 lockdown, demonstrating his ability to adapt and stay relevant.
Elpassii has performed extensively both locally and internationally, touring in Australia, Europe, and beyond, and participating in major festivals and concerts in Mauritius.
With a career spanning over two decades, Elpassii remains dedicated to promoting Mauritian music worldwide, driven by passion and a constant desire to evolve artistically.
